Match2Vote is designed around a simple idea: understanding should come before decision-making. The project emphasizes delivering election information through a neutrality framework, focusing on: structure over commentary, clarity over persuasion, and transparency over inference. Information is presented without candidates, parties, or colors associated with ideology, ensuring that policy explanations are clear and unbiased.
Match2Vote maintains a strict neutrality framework and does not judge policies or indicate which position is superior. The app does not score, rank, or recommend candidates or issues.
Instead, it provides users with vital election information through:
- A clear, plain-language explanation of what a policy does
- How the policy is commonly described by supporters
- How opponents typically frame the policy
By placing these policy explanations side by side, users can observe the differences in language and framing. The objective is to empower users to recognize how policies are presented, while ensuring that their decision-making remains entirely their own.
The current prototype begins with a short issue survey that provides essential election information covering major policy areas such as education, healthcare, clean energy, and public safety.
For each issue, users can:
indicate where they stand,
adjust how important the issue is to them,
and select a neutral or undecided option, which aligns with our neutrality framework.
There are no required answers. Neutrality is treated as a valid response, reflecting genuine engagement rather than a lack of interest in the policy explanations.
